Pretty and pointless

What are two things everyone loves but rarely thinks about?

Fireworks and hot air balloons!

*Westerfeld Specials
As I said "pretty and pointless*". Yet when you see them in real life it really makes you feel good. I mean on the fourth of July do you look forward to steak? To reading the entire declaration of independence? To singing patriotic songs?

NO you look forward to FIREWORKS!!!!!! "I'm sure that's what the founding fathers would want us to do celebrate our independence by blowin' stuff up!"- Gaffagan. And yet the rest of the year you don't give fireworks another thought!

It's the same with hot air balloons. Except there's no holiday that centers around balloons so you mostly forget them completely. But that rare sighting makes you feel good all day. Like Friday on the way to school from sem we were driving an being blinded (driving toward the sun :P) and we saw some balloons and we were like WHAT?! HOT AIR BALLOONS! Awesome I felt like a little kid exclaiming every four seconds yay hot air balloons! FUN!! It whent right over the car and we saw the nflares sooooo cool! Turns out they were out for "Clovis fest". It was so fun and I felt goood all day.
YAY PRETTY AND POINTLESS! :-D

A little math review

For those of you who read my story about numbers and don't really get it here's a little tutorial.

Ex. 6+-5n=56

First add the inverse operation of the number not attached to the variable.
Inverses, plus is minus and multiply is divide and vise vera.
Do it to both sides. PS NEVER DO MATH ON THE COMPUTER!!!!! TOOOO HARD!!!!!

6+-5n=56
-6 =-6
-------------
-5n = 50
---- ---
-5n -5n
---------------
n = -10

What is with me and numbers?

As you probly know a few days ago was 9/9/09. There was a baby born that day at 9:09 weighing 9lbs 9oz. Guess what they named him.

Somtimes math sparks the oddest brainwaves!

When Number's Fall in Love
By Tori C. and 8(-22+x)=0
Based on a real math problem
The laws of math state that in the case of a multi-step equation, that "The object of a number's life is to isolate the variable." As such variables live very lonely lives after a few minutes of high action with themselves only, some variables are luckier than others. For example, in the case of 49n-15, it cannot be simplified and still is with other numbers.
8 was not a variable and it was the happiest day of her life. Today was the day she would be multiplied! She was thrilled! She never thought she'd be a product! She hadn't had the best upbringing in the world. Her parents were exponents. It was odd to have three parents who were all twos.
She was madly in love with her fiance, -22. Even though he was a negative and she a positive, she knew that she could change him to a positive if she just had the right inverse operation. She was certain she and -22 would never be (gasp) DIVIDED!
Her maid of honor was her best friend x. X was a variable but she was 8's BFF. -22 thought it was risky to have an "unknown" in the ceremony, but he knew she had to have a good absolute value to be 8's best friend.
As 8 performed the first part of the "wedding" ceremony (the distributive property), x cried as she became 8x, and the groomsmen (parentheses) sat down. X remained standing to see as 8 and -22 became Mr. and Mrs. -176. Then as the newly- products crossed the equals sign together as 176 (performing the inverse operation), they were so happy, especially -22 now that he was positive.
8x was worried. Products were generally happier if they stayed away from variables but she was brave. She and 8 divided, and 8 crossed the sign and divided herself by 176 leaving x=22. 22 couldn't be sad because he was now a positive, but he was still a little dissapointed. He had really wanted to stay a product, but he learned a vital lesson...............
MATH STINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lifestyles of the high school Tori.

Monday was the first day of school. I was pumped so pumped but I learned a few things. Onegood two bad and one EXTREMELY AWESOME.
So I go to my first period (math on the newly opened second floor!) I expect the same hi-I'm-Mr.-so-an-so-this-is-who-I-am/this-is what-I-did-over-the-summer but Oh no! The minute the bell rings he hands us a workbook and a warm-up! Then he GIVES HOMEWORK!!!! ON THE FIRST DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's how I learned high school is not middle school and they treat it as such.
I learned something pleasanter in choir the next period. I learned once a concert choir girl always a concert choir girl always one and what does that entail oh I think you know. It means we where probably the most talented and loud choir Granite Ridge. So we carried our loudness and talent to CN mixed choir. How is that good news? Let's the guys are silent and less talented so the girls constantly annoy the guys with our loud chatting and our rocking out to our absolutely perfect harmonies. ;)
In other choir news. The high mixed choir/women's chorale (I'm in both) travel more than my GR choir and drama class combined! So we're going to San Diego! And when there we're going to Sea World and Six Flags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and a festival but whatevs!)
After the day was over mine wasn't I had an audition. I thought I did well and I even got a few compliments on my song I'm flying. Callback lists posted that night. My name was not on it. That was a sad lesson that no matter how many times I learn it I always manage to forget it around audtion time. It is "Don't wish don't start wishing only ruins the heart." -Wicked. In other words don't hope too much or get too confident or you'll be more sorry than ever you hoped in the first place. I was really disappointed about that. :'(
Only other piece of news is I've completed one week of semenary. IT WAS HARD! I fell asleep on the couch for two hours on Wednesday night and still slept soundly that night. And today I fell asleep for around a half hour at Aunt Am's.

TOMMORROW IS THE VINYARD! :( :/ :'(

Move over Capybara's!!!!!! There's a new fave in town!

Into the Woods

As you may have noticed in my past posts I like live theater a lot. A whole lot. See all the stuff about wonderful town and my outrage at the Phantom of the Opera sequel. I also LOVE performing live theater. This year, my high school freshmen year, my school is doing Sontime's Into the Woods. That's a good one! I've been memorising the songs all summer and I've got them pretty much tucked away in my head! They're great and odd and funny here's a funny line from a song called Into the Woods. (Ooo that names a shocker considering the name of the musical! That's like the show Oklahoma having a song called........ Oklahoma!)This line describes an old cow.
"There's a lump on her rump big enough to be a hump!"
This one is something Little Red Riding Hood says about going to Granny's.
"Into the woods to bring some bread to Granny who Is sick in bed. Never can tell what lies ahead. For all that I know, she's already dead!"
Silly huh! And of course I'm even more phsyed because Brother-in-Law Chris was in it (the wolf) and all the time we were in Utah he and I sang the songs all the time! Julie must be sooooooo bored of "Hello Little Girl"!
I can't wait! I'd love to be the witch or the bakers wife (but I'd never take that role!) or Little Red Riding Hood (but I'm too tall to play a little girl!). If I get in at all which is to be seen the role I'd most likely get is Jack's mother (the one who says "there's a lump on her rump").
I'm gonna audition with the song I gotta crow from Peter Pan! That's a fave of mine! The oddest part of the whole thing is that the audition process is that the the audition is on
THE FIRST DAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!!!!!!!
Crazy huh? I've made a collage of pix of the different chacters like Snow White and the wolf ect. and if I don't get in I'll only be able show it for less than a day and it's a good one (would put it on here but it won't let me!) CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our FUN trip!

Friday:

We wake up. We go to Karen's. Drewby says "Eh fun trip!!!!" (he doesn't talk too well yet). We drive about 3 1/2 and stop in Tahachapi CA. We go to a bakery only to find NO BATHROOM! But my mom gets some pastries and I look at the funny quotes on the walls like "Life is short....... Eat dessert first!" Rest of the day flies by in driving and listening to HP7 on iPod until we get to Provo, we go into the Wilkinson's center on BYU campus and see.....................
JULIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She had to close up shop and to add comic effect for the benefit of Drew she exaggerates her movements. We go to Juju and Chris' apartment and it's hot! We drive to Draper and Karen's other son, Dalin, had his nightly freak out and cried the whole way there. Then we got to my mom's cousin, Lorna's, house. Then within half an hour we're all asleep!

Saturday:
I wake up pretty late around 10:45. I played with Mr. Drew in Lorna's awesomely awesome backyard, complete with not one but 2 trampolines, complete swing set, badminton net, and plain and simple SPACE to run around in. Then we went to the BYU bookstore with Julie and Chris. Drew and Dalin got T-shirts that said "My first BYU T-shirt" with the baby cougar on it. I wanted to get the shirt that said "Friends don't let friends go to the U of U" but it had the adult cougar and I wanted the baby one. So I got that one. Then we realized that my mom, Karen, myself, and most likely the little boys were sooooooo thirsty!!!!!!!! So Juju and Chris went to this restaurant that they'd hyped up called the brick oven. It was pizza and it was sooooooooooooooo good and it had GREAT root beer!!! Then we went to the BYU Creamery it was soooooo good! While there Chris and I had a good time singing Into the Woods(he was the wolf in high school and I hope to be the Witch, Cinderella, or even Red Riding hood next year [my freshmen year of high school]). Then we went back to Draper and Dalin cried his head off but somehow I was able to comfort him. Crazy huh? We also went to this duck pond it was fun and Drew had a blast!

Sunday:

I got up then I got dressed in Sunday best. I have this cute dress it's navy blue and I always get compliments so I wore it that day because that was no ordinary Sunday. That Sunday I went to Salt Lake. I went to two places that I found humbling to say the very least. These two places really adjusted my perspectives. Until then I thought my choir was great! Until then I thought Clovis North's Concert Hall was great! Until then I thought Fresno Temple was the most pretty in the world!
BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our visit to the Salt Lake temple proved the latter wrong.

Our trip to Music and the Spoken Word's End of the 80th year Broadcast in the BEAUTIFUL LDS conference center proved the former wrong and reinforced my desire to join the choir myself. (Where Chris lost his phone.) (Later found by my mom.)

Then we visited one of the vistor's center where Drew folded his arms to prevent anyone form holding his hands and lots of stangers thought "Oh! He's sooo reverent!! :)"Then we had dinner with Lorna after church and I went and spent the night over at Juju's place.

Monday:

We got up at five and hiked the Y and that purple dot is where Julie, Chris, and I where were to see the sunrise. It was sooo hard to go up that at turn 7 yackity yack I threw up from over excertion. It was embaressing but I got up!

Then we went to Dessert Industries and got stuff for Harry Potter premiere costumes. The rest of the day I spent in Draper at Lorna's running after Drew in that vast backyard.

Tuesday:

I woke up and watched Monster's Inc. with Drew and I played darts. Then we went to the Oquirrh Mountain open house. It was a GREAT!!!!! SOOOO PRETTY!!!

For lunch we ate Einstein's bagels YUM!!!! Then I went to Juju's and she dressed me up. At first I thought I was going to be Graupe Hagrid's giant half brother but then I realized that I looked my like another character that more people would recognize . So I said I was Fenrear Grayback, the savage werewolf. No one got it.

We went to a BYU party called Harry Potter Fest. It was fun. There was a trivia game I got into the top 9 or 10 and I knew the answer to like every question but the one they asked me was totally unfair! No would be able to answer it! Not even JK Rowling herself! "In book 3 what did Ron say Malfoy would be as sick as when he learned that Harry had the firebolt." BOGUS!!!!!!!! Chris as Ron played "Muggle" Quidditch. While that was happening Juju and did a scavenger hunt around BYU campus.

Wednessday:

Julie, Chris and watch Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at 12:10. It had some funny parts but overall didn't live up to expectations. Slept for three hours went to breakfast sooooo tired I don't remember it. Slept in the car until we got Primm. Rest of the day past in a blur of driving the sound of Dalin crying, and the taste of fries and m+m's. Then we got home!

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE FRESNO!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

This is for you Aunt Eileen!

WELCOME TO GIRLS CAMP!!!!!!!!

Welcome to LDS girls camp. Ironic huh? We don't swear yet.......... Whatever! There was tie dying and my BFF Mallory X made one. I said It looked like a unicorn horn and so she wanted me to take a picture she thought that it soooooooo funny.
Since the camp normally has boys and girls (except during girls camp), there's a boys bathroom there and since there weren't any boys the girls used a boys bathroom. UGH!!!!!! So here's me goofing off in front of the uranuls. (Which last year I thought was sink YEWWWW!!!!)
This is Jack&$^(&%$&$& Falls as seen from above during the hike. It's the only water at camp becides a stream that at it's deapest is only like 2 1/2 feet deep! It would make camp just that much better if there were somewhere to swim!
This is Jack (&)&%*(_^$#@ Rock. Named for wild donkeys. The camp is named after it and next year as a fourth year I have to climb it! Yipes!!!!!
